#### 1.  Sarah went to a movie theatre with \$25. She bought a movie ticket for \$8.40 and a bottle of soda for \$4.50. How much money had she left?

\$8.40  +  \$4.50  =  \$12.90
She spent \$12.90 altogether.

\$25  −  \$12.90  =  \$12.10

#### 2. A bicycle costs \$84.85. A skateboard costs \$36.40 less than the bicycle. Jason buys two skateboards. How much does he need to pay the cashier?

\$84.85  −  \$36.40  =  \$48.45
The cost of a skateboard is \$48.45.  (a)

\$48.45  +  \$48.45  =  \$96.90
He needs to pay \$96.90 to the cashier.

#### 3. Maya has \$9.25 at first. Then she saves another \$6.45. She wants to buy a school bag that costs \$17.95. How much more must she save to buy the school bag?

\$9.25  +  \$6.45  =  \$15.70
She has \$15.70 altogether.

\$17.95  −  \$15.70  =  \$2.25
She must save another \$2.25 to buy the school bag.

#### 4. Mrs. Adams bought a magazine for \$15.15. She gave the cashier 4 five-dollar notes. How much change did she receive?
